Kid Updates
Marisol continues to entertain us with her imagination. She often wakes up from a good night's sleep and launches right into a lengthy conversation about whatever happens to be on her mind. Her imagination continues to be fueled by her favorite movies and shows... She loves to dress up every day, have tea parties, dance, and read books. Some of her favorite Christmas gifts were her pink kitchen, pink drum, pink sparkly shoes, and her Fancy Nancy book with dress ups (does anyone see a pattern here??). Daily games include freeze tag and hide and seek. She is also a BIG organizer - loves bags, boxes, blankets, and of course her many, MANY babies. Of course her opinion of organized doesn't always match mine or her father's but we usually manage to find some kind of middle ground.
We seem to be past the initial adjustment period of becoming a big sister and she regularly tells me that she loves her little brother. She calls him "little boy" and "Ger bear" and touches his cheeks lovingly. She is starting to help me entertain him by making funny faces and bringing him toys. She also tells Mike and I how much she loves us innumerable times every day - Mike think she is going to drive her first boyfriend crazy!
This past weekend we took her to see "The Princess and the Frog" and she really liked it. At church she danced to the music (we have very talented musicians - a pianist/organist, violinist, and cantor with a beautiful singing voice), and at Wegman's she picked out the BIGGEST Sleeping Beauty helium balloon that you have ever seen (I think it may be bigger than her!)
Gerry is doing really well too and will be 6 months old this Saturday. He continues to be very happy and laid back - even maintaining his even temper the past few weeks fighting his first bad cough/cold WHILE cutting his first two teeth on the bottom. I can't believe my baby is already getting teeth!! He watches us eat very closely so we are going to start trying some food and see how he does. He is wriggling and rolling all over the place when put on the floor, and loves his toys and exersaucer (his "office"). And my favorite thing is that he "goes" on the potty every day a few times - almost every time upon waking up, and usually after eating! We still use diapers but EC (Elimination Communication) part-time has been a lot of fun.
I often wish I could remember more of these moments... but it will have to do to record "snapshots" when I have the time and energy!

Susan: and the witch made everyone understandng people

Susan: they don't understand that she is a princess
michaelmay21: I see...
Susan: and the witch made the castle small
she's disappointed about that
michaelmay21: who wouldn't be ....
Susan: she wants to make me a present for the castle to thank me for her little sister (she told me that when Gerry gets bigger she wants a little sister)

Funny Girl
Some funny things Marisol has said lately:
On the way back to the car after seeing Santa, she turns around in her stroller and looks at me, "Mommy, where are my presents??" lol
Marisol is becoming really good at playing computer games by herself - mostly on the laptop - she is really good at the pad and moving the mouse... anyways, she ran into the playroom where I was changing her brother and said something like this:
Marisol: Mommy, mommy, I need you , I need your help! (this was very excited, and involved a lot of jumping around, running etc. Who said computer games are sedentary?
me: You need help with your computer game?
Marisol: Yes, the mouse keeps jumping around.... like.. like... like... (I thought she was going to end this with a big ME, cause she was jumping around so much... and she did, but with a twist!) like... me when you try to cut my nails!
hahaha, we've been trying to cut her nails for over a week now. What a great analogy!! (or was that a simile? help me out English majors!)
Finally, we met friends at the library yesterday and I told her to tell them that we saw Santa... so she did... then when my friend exclaimed excitedly, she added, "But I didn't get my presents yet... it's not Christmas yet..." do we see a theme here?
Gotta go, she just ASKED me to cut her nails! I'm not kidding!!
Update: I was too slow... now she's not ready to cut them... oh well!
